Bruce Berger, Managing Member
Mr. Berger serves as a founding Partner at Recapitalization Partners,
LLC. He is also the Managing Partner of Turnaround Capital Partners
which provides actionable investment advice to institutional
investors whose assets exceed $3 billion.
Prior to Recapitalization Partners, Mr. Berger was a General Partner and Co-Founder of Lindenwood Capital Partners, LP, a New York based private equity fund that invested in underperforming companies. Over it's 6 year lifetime, Lindenwood returned to it's investors an annualized return of 35%. Before Lindenwood, he founded and was President of White River Partners, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of White River Corporation (NASDAQ-listed) specializing in the acquisition and restructuring of troubled businesses. Mr. Berger served in this capacity until June 1998 when it was sold to Harvard Capital Management. He served in a similar capacity while with Fund American Enterprise Holdings Inc. (NYSE-listed), being responsible for the analysis and management of distressed companies.
Mr. Berger has served as Chairman of the Board for various companies and as a director of a number of other companies.
Mr. Berger is a graduate of Rutgers University and is a Certified Public Accountant , Certified Fraud Examiner and a Certified Valuation Analyst.
Joel Levine, Managing Member
Mr. Levine serves as a Managing Partner at Recapitalization Partners and is an experienced Senior Executive and Board Director who for the last 35 years has lead successful start-up, turnaround, domestic and international joint ventures and high growth companies to profitability and positive cash flow. Mr. Levine is adept at identifying organic growth and/or strategic acquisition opportunities that gain critical market share. With strong general and P&L management expertise, Mr. Levine is a driver of outstanding results through reorganization, innovation, and exploitation of a company’s core strengths.
Prior to joining Recap in November 2011, Mr. Levine was the Chairman and CEO of American Blind and Wallpaper Factory, the country’s largest eCommerce retailer of blinds, wallpaper and other home furnishings, from 2006 until 2010, when American was merged with a strategic acquirer. Prior to joining American Blind and Wallpaper Factory, Mr. Levine reestablished his turnaround consultancy, Lawrence-Philip & Co., in 2003. Mr. Levine was the Chief Executive Officer of Hanover Accessories and Lawrence Merchandising Services, which he joined at its formation in 1996 until its sale in 2003. Prior to joining Hanover, Mr. Levine was the CEO of Lawrence-Philip & Co., a turnaround consultancy from 1990 to 1996.
Mr. Levine joined the NPS Technology Group as a principal in 1976 and remained in such capacity until 1990. NPS’ annual revenue was $450 million dollars with engineering, manufacturing, distribution, transportation and construction management divisions. Mr. Levine held many positions with NPS including CEO, COO and CFO positions at Corporate and Division Levels and Operating Companies. Prior to joining NPS, Mr. Levine was an Executive with Instrument Systems Corporation (1970 – 1976) and a Management Trainee with United Technologies (1969 – 1970).
Mr. Levine received a BS in Engineering Science from Hofstra University; a MS Metallugrical Engineering, from New York University; and a MBA from Roth Graduate School of Business Administration. Mr. Levine is also a Licensed Professional Engineer in 7 states and has served as a Director on 15 Boards.
